Introduction

Red (Smokey) Sanders Was born and raised as a youth in Branson MO, the home of the blues and southern fried rock. His Father Reed Sanders could be found at any corner blues saloon on a Saturday night performing with any number of the areas Greats like John Banch, and Melissa Morgan to name a few. Red would help Dad on and off the stage with his cane and Dolbro guitar. Red watched and listened and eventually picked up some tips on the piano and bass guitar from the bandmates. Eventually Performing alongside his father until his passing in 1981 and continuing the tradition to this day.

In the 70s and 80s, Much of the drive to perform came from Red's youth watching and stage handling for his father's shows. Because of the wide variety of top musicians that would accompany the house band Red was attracted to many genres and flavors of playing from, Ragtime piano to Chicken Picken Country and classic roots blues. Red is always keeping an ear open for a new musical influence like old (Blind Wally) who could be found on the corner down by the old Seven-Eleven and Taco shop on Third and Weston. Blind Wally plays his six-string and sings blues songs to fill his hat with tips from the onlookers and passer buyers. Blind Wally would run out of blues songs so he would write them in his head as he played. I have to admit I copped a few of his songs as inspirations on my last album and offered Blind Wally a tribute as a token. He's gone now years past says Red, but his foot-stomping harp and guitar blues combined with tales of his travels will live on forever in the vinyl.
